Daisy has been on Board and Train to work on her Loose lead walking!
🐶 The first thing I do is teach her where heel is using tasty treats.
🐶 Next we practise in a low distraction environment - at home and in unit off lead and intersperse this with rewards such as treats or time off lead or scentwork to break up the hard stuff (moving at my speed)
🐶 Finally I start asking for small amounts of lead walking on a normal walk - loose lead is alternated with off lead for a break!
🐶 It's definitely a work in progress - and can be very frustrating when you have a dog who pulls hard.
I dont use Daisy's lead on her collar EXCEPT when we are working on walking nicely. At other times she is either off lead or on her harness.

George and Koda luuurrrrved meeting each other today!
When we pair dogs up we are extremely careful. Our no 1 priority is to ensure the safety and happiness of both dogs.
So we had Ellie and Jane as adventure leaders so they could be totally confident on the walk with these two big dogs meeting!
As predicted, they got on brilliantly.
When we match the dogs it's not about location or profit it's about what is best for the dogs and finding them appropriate friends.

Our scentwork courses are now fully booked and we cant wait to get cracking with starting in March!
I've said it before but it's worth saying again - we don't just walk, board, train anything like the bare minimum.
Every single dog gets the best possible experience when they are in our care with lots of extras.
We are not the cheapest - but I'm confident in the quality we deliver.👌

Really proud of this partnership -
🩷 Willow is a bit of a frustrated greeter and today we worked on allowing her to meet a dog -
🧡 out of 5 dogs she was able to say a traditional hello to one of them - its important to work not only on passing dogs but also use the ultimate reward which is being able to say hello.
💛 I use this one in 5 ratio to try and replicate real life - not every dog is appropriate to say hello and dogs need to learn to accept the reward offered..
These two have worked really hard and I cant wait to hear about their improvements when we next meet!

Here's a little video I made of Lokis second bit of crate training - I've tried to go through the couple of stages I tend to do - and I usually go backwards and forwards through those stages.
The main thing is to build value in the crate in lots of different ways. Crate training is a great way of helping with your housetraining efforts also and will help with making sure your house doesn't get chewed when your not around!

Myla came for some loose lead training this week with her owner Ben. We always start with building focus and attention off lead before we add in the lead work.
It was lovely to see her trotting outside on a loose lead by the end of the session.
Still some work to do but an excellent start!

The team at CCS have been working really hard with our Puppy clients to help them be sociable, calm and upstanding doggos on adventures..
Necessity led us to test this slightly yesterday and send George, Daisy and Willow out with Canine Adventure Leader Sophie as a group..
Sophie set off with some trepidation at having 3 puppies under 8 months together - but the reports back were excellent!
Apparently George and Daisy were in love and Willow concentrated on stealing all the human cuddles!
There are a few ingredients to making sure your puppy isn't utterly obsessed with other dogs and not one of them is unlimited access to new dogs..be careful how you do it in these early days, and I am more than happy to talk anyone through how I like to do it.
